We'd been working with this association helping torture victims for a few years.
Then, one day, my art director tells me this crazy Cold War story. The Soviet state was tight on music, but some rebels went rogue, pressing forbidden tunes onto X-rays.
After some digging, we found only two folks left who still knew this trick. I called up one, some dude in Arizona. He was game.
With the association, we got X-rays from torture victims, recorded their stories, and then had them pressed onto their own X-rays to create this Talking Bones campaign.
